Yeast City Housing was born out of the work of the Tshwane Leadership Foundation, formerly known as Pretoria Community Ministries (www.tlf.org.za). It was registered as a separate legal entity in 1998, in terms of Section 21 of the Companies Act (not for profit). It is also registered with the Social Housing Registrar of Gauteng Province. Yeast City Housing is owned by eight inner city churches.
We are creating a mix of communal, transitional, special needs and institutional housing, thereby facilitating a diversity of tenure options and housing types. We will continue to experiment in terms of offering the best possible product at the most affordable price, but also in terms of creating attractive, cost effective and sustainable housing that contributes towards beautiful inner city places. |

Yeast City Housing is the first social housing company in the City of Tshwane and one of the first in South Africa. We operate within the framework of the Social Housing Bill. Our mandate is to ensure decent, affordable housing, and to contribute to urban regeneration and social inclusion through well-managed social housing.
Yeast City Housing maintains that housing is more than shelter, hence: · We work towards developing an integrated, healthy neighbourhood with housing at its core · Our core values are about building lives, families and communities |
